Queens Park will give defender Ricky Little a late fitness test ahead of their clash against fellow promotion chasers Peterhead after he picked up a groin injury in the win at Stirling last Saturday.

Striker Craig Smith has joined Junior side Ashfield on loan after falling down the pecking order with the Spiders.

Hampden head coach Gardner Speirs said: "The games between Queens Park and Peterhead are always very tight affairs and this one will no doubt be the same.

"They are a good side but our performances recently have been very good. If we play like we can there is no reason why we cannot find the edge that will give us a win and see us remain in second place.''

Fourth-placed Peterhead travel to Hampden with defender Scott Ross back in their ranks after a three-game ban.

Manager Jim McInally is hoping to complete the signing of Alloa striker David Cox, who has been on loan at the Blue Toon, on a permanent basis ahead of kick-off, however Callum MacDonald and Davie Ross remain out with knee injuries.

McInally is looking for his men to bounce back after a poor performance in the 1-0 defeat to Montrose last weekend.

"We were poor in that game but we have to put that behind us and move on,'' he said. "This is an exciting period with a trip to Hampden and then Rangers visiting next week, and starting that off with three points would be great.''
