Schalke will be looking to consolidate fourth place in the Bundesliga when they go to Nurnberg tomorrow as they look to put their midweek Champions League disappointment behind them.

The Royal Blues not only lost an unbeaten record in Europe this season when they went down 3-2 at home to Galatasaray on Tuesday, the result also eliminated them from the competition, leaving them nothing else to play for this season other than targeting a return to Europe's top club competition.

Two Bundesliga wins in a row have lifted the Gelsenkirchen club back into the top four, and they now need to show they are there to stay.

"Of course elimination from the Champions League hurts us, but you don't get anything for moaning,'' said their coach Jens Keller.

"The team showed in the second half that they are top fit and can convince, but unfortunately it was not enough to reach the quarter-finals.''

Defeat to the Turkish champions also came at a price with the loss of Roman Neustadter due to a shoulder injury, but Jermaine Jones is available after being suspended both in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League.

A loyal friendship binds the two clubs' fans, yet that camaraderie will be limited to the terraces, according to Nurnberg coach Michael Wiesinger.

He is not planning on giving Schalke any assistance at all in their quest for European football next season.

"We want to beat Schalke and build on our win (over Augsburg),'' he said.

"We expect to face a side who are highly motivated and we know they have a lot of quality, particularly in attack, but we need to grind them down and take away their desire.''

Wiesinger has a fully-fit squad to choose from, including Javier Pinola, who came on as a substitute against Augsburg.
