Competition Stats

St Etienne coach Christophe Galtier has demanded a much improved performance from his players when they take to the field against Nancy tomorrow.

A goalless draw with Reims last weekend has left ASSE without a win in three Ligue 1 matches and lying 11th in the standings.

Galtier admits he is far from satisfied with their current form.

"There is a feeling of frustration and disappointment among my players and myself,'' he said on

"We should have won that game [against Reims] but a combination of poor weather, sloppy play and a lack of success worked against us.

"We cannot continue in this way. We have to find the will to win and score, and then we will be rewarded for our efforts.

"It will be a tough match against Nancy. There are no small teams in this competition. It has been shown in recent matches that to dominate does not always mean to win. We need results.''

Alejandro Alonso and Francois Clerc have returned to training for St Etienne following back and knee injuries respectively.

However, Banel Nicolita is still out of action with a torn thigh muscle.

Nancy travel to the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on the back of four successive defeats - a run which has left them second from bottom in Ligue 1.

Midfielder Salif Sane is hopeful they can turn things around, however.

"We failed to put our successful end to the 2011/12 season out of our minds and may have approached this season with a bit too much confidence'', he said on

"We must quickly return to the mentality that allowed us to save ourselves last campaign. Out current situation is complicated but not dramatic.''

Midfielder Romain Grange is sidelined with a thigh strain and has been replaced in the Nancy squad by Abdourahman Dampha.

Fouad Rachid is also injured while Brazilian defender Helder misses out through suspension.
