Competition Stats

St Etienne will look to further their push toward the upper ends of the Ligue 1 table at the expense of struggling Troyes tomorrow.

ASSE are in a rich vein of form and last weekend's 2-1 upset of Paris St Germain made it three wins in a row in all competitions, with back-to-back league victories pushing them up to sixth place, four points from the summit.

They are widely expected to claim another three points against a side with only one victory in 11 outings this season.

Coach Christophe Galtier has been delighted by his team's recent performances and confident they can keep the run going.

"In every match, I put out a different starting line-up and the team continued to perform well and won,'' he said. "That is important for me. This shows the comfort and spirit in the group, the desire to succeed and to share in it together.

"I do not fear (a decline). I have players in great form. All week the group has responded well and I hope thsi translates into a victory on Saturday night.''

Troyes are hoping that striker Gregory Bettiol is fit enought to start after another woeful run of injury problems, ending when he came off the bench in last weekend's encouraging 1-1 draw with Montpellier.

That was only his third appearance of the season, all of them off the bench, and the ex-Lyon man is desperate for a chance to show what he can do at this level after spending so long with the club in Ligue 2.

"It's been six year that I have been at the club,'' he said. "Now that we are here, I want my share of the dream that is Ligue 1. Every football wants to play at this level. When you are unable to play the disappointment is all the greater.''

Troyes' task will not be made any easier by a lengthy injury list that includes Jeremiah Brechet, Stephane Darbion, Stephen Drouin, Julien Faussurier, Sebastien Grax and Matthieu Saunier.
