Lorient coach Christian Gourcuff insists the best is yet to come from his side as they head into tomorrow's Ligue 1 clash with St Etienne on the back of three straight wins.
Lorient's 2-0 home victory over Sochaux on Wednesday night saw them climb to sixth in the table having previously stunned Marseille 3-0 at the Stade Velodrome and also overcome Toulouse.
Four wins from their last five have helped spectacularly turn round a season that looked to be heading in the other direction after a run of seven games without a victory including a 6-1 humbling at Valenciennes.
Delighted Gourcuff said: "We have to remember where we were a few weeks ago, but that does not mean we do not have other ambitions. There is still room for improvement. Our game has not peaked yet.''
In contrast Christophe Galtier's St Etienne go into the game looking to end a run of three matches without a win following Thursday night's hard-fought goalless draw away to Bordeaux.
A previous draw at Ajaccio and defeat by a single goal to leaders Lyon hardly had Galtier pressing the panic button, though, with his side continuing to defy expectations by sitting in fourth place in the Ligue 1 table.
Gourcuff was pleased with the way his side pulled through against Bordeaux, insisting: "We experienced a setback on Sunday and I was anxious to see the reaction of the group and I'm very satisfied.''
