Ajaccio hope to see an improvement in attitude and desire following the sacking of manager Alex Dupont.

Dupont left the club earlier this week after last weekend's 3-2 defeat against struggling Troyes and assistant coach Stephane Paganelli will be in charge for tomorrow's Ligue 1 match at home against Rennes until a new manager is appointed.

The defeat against Troyes left Ajaccio 14th in the table after 18 matches, three points above the relegation zone and chairman Alain Orsoni said on the club's official website: "I hope that the group will regroup and rediscover what has always been our strength, mind, solidarity, and a sense of honour.''

Paganelli also called on the players to play with commitment and pride to get the club through a difficult period.

He said: "In the current climate of ours, it is important first of all to find our values. Rennes are a very good team on the road, we must give everything to get a result.''

Rennes lie in sixth place in the table with 29 points, just one spot off the European places and manager Frederic Antonetti admits they are already four points better off than he expected going into the Christmas break.

Antonetti told the Rennes club website: "The goal is to stay in contact with the best teams to maintain hope for the second half of the season. We go to a team that needs points but who are very consistent. We expect a tough game.

"I said the goal was to reach 25 points at the break. The players have done better. It gives us great hope for the future.''
