Valenciennes manager Daniel Sanchez aims to take the bull by the horns when his side face Ajaccio in tomorrow's Ligue 1 clash at the Stade Francois-Coty.
Ajaccio will be without five first team regulars - Carl Medjani, Fousseni Diawara, Mehdi Mostefa, Sigamary Diarra and Chahir Belghazouani - due to the African Nations Cup, while Valenciennes are not missing any of their squad due to the tournament.
However, Sanchez's side have seen their preparations for the game affected by the snowy weather, although the VA boss says that is no excuse for not being ready for the match.
Sanchez told the club's official website: "The training conditions are difficult and we have been forced to go indoors and work in a small area.
"Knowing that the preparation for this trip to Ajaccio has been complicated, we will make the necessary efforts to compensate.
"After that, the goal is not to hide behind it. We will have the right mindset and take the bull by the horns.''
Sanchez also believes his players will be looking to regain some pride following the 5-0 thumping by Nice in the last round.
He said: "It is obvious that I expect a response from them but I think they have also been affected, offended to be beaten by five goals.''
Ajaccio will be looking for their first win in five games as they bid to increase the distance between themselves and the bottom three.
They are currently on 20 points, just one clear of Evian who occupy 18th place above Troyes and Nancy.
