Sochaux defender David Sauget has warned his team-mates they can take nothing for granted as they head into their basement battle with Reims tomorrow.

Sochaux will run out for a game which represents a clash between the sides currently occupying 17th and 16th places in Ligue 1 hovering uncomfortably over the relegation zone.

However, they will do so having given their own survival hopes a major boost with a 3-1 victory over third-placed Marseille last Sunday, and Sauget is hoping they can muster the same kind of performance at the Stade Auguste Bonal this weekend against lesser, on paper at least, opposition.

He told www.lunion.presse.fr: "I had no worries about our state of mind against Marseille. It was not a concern.

"But now we must gain consistency. This has terribly failed us in the first part of the season, and Ligue 1 does not allow that.

"We cannot rest on our laurels. Gaining consistency is a daily task on and off the field. You do not become constant in a snap.''

The win over high-flying Marseille was all the more remarkable as Sochaux had to play the last 29 minutes with only 10 men after having striker Joseph Lopy sent off for a second bookable offence.

But while they will head into tomorrow's game still buoyed by a precious victory, the visitors will arrive having not won in the league in 12 attempts since defeating Nice 3-1 on October 6, and having also slipped out of the Coupe de la Ligue at the hands of lower league Plabennec.

However, Sauget saw enough in last weekend's 2-1 home defeat by Bastia to know Reims will not lie down.

He said: "There is a long series without a victory, but it has to stop one day. Everything must be done to make sure it stops next week, not tomorrow.

"It depends on us. We must be wary of this team. We saw against Bastia - they were not successful, but the opportunities were there. We must have the desire to win.''

Tomorrow's game will kick-off at 4pm after being moved forward by four hours in an effort to avoid bad weather.
