Deportivo La Coruna coach Fernando Vazquez insists the Galician derby against fellow strugglers Celta Vigo will not determine the fate of his team's season.
Vazquez's men sit at the foot of the Primera Division, six points behind their second-bottom opponents and nine points from safety.
However, Vazquez said the clash was not their final chance, and despite the team having not won in nine matches he remains optimistic.
"I never liked the tragedies. For me it's an important game but I won't say that it's the last hope,'' he said.
He added: "These three points will bring oxygen for the city and for all of us in order to spend the next 15 days waiting for the game against Mallorca.
"We need to win, above all, it's evident, but the clear thing is that 11 games are remaining and we need to win seven, that's the reality.''
Opposite number Abel Resino, however, sees the match as an opportunity for Celta to kick-start their survival bid after just one win in nine and only one away victory - in late November - all season.
"It's a very important game, not only because Depor is the historical rival, but also because the team needs a push playing away from home,'' Resino said.
"The team is evolving but the only way to confirm it is by winning.
"If you don't win then it's harder to believe.
"The picture is worrying. These are the teams in the last two places and a lot of matchdays have already passed.
"Their situation is complicated and for us it is tough too, because we need to win this game in order to confirm the improvement witnessed in the previous matches.
"A derby is a great opportunity to add points on the road and reinforce our fight.''
