Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl wants his side to build up a head of steam after starting 2013 with a 3-2 win at Fortuna Dusseldorf.
Augsburg host Schalke tomorrow knowing the challenge facing them will be greater than seven days ago, but with the self-confidence garnered from only their second win of the season, Weinzierl sees no reason why they cannot make it two wins in a row.
"We will take that self-confidence from our opening game with us and now we want to build on it at home and get the next points on the board,'' said Weinzierl, whose side could move out of the bottom two for the first time all season with a win.
"Schalke are an absolute top team in the Bundesliga, but we showed in the first half of the season that we can compete with the top teams.
"Now we want to prove that we can also get points against such teams.''
Schalke also have a point to prove since their last away win dates back to October.
"But I am not interested in such statistics,'' Schalke coach Jens Keller said. "Before the Hannover game, we had not won at home for a few matches, but the lads fought back from several setbacks and showed what quality they have.
"We also have self-confidence after the win over Hannover and our aim has got to be to take the three points away with us.''
Schalke have Klaas Jan Huntelaar available for the first time in 2013 after suspension and he should take his place in attack.
Weinzierl is likely to name an unchanged side from the one which won away from home for the first time this season.
