Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking has warned his side not to take any notice of Augsburg's current position in the Bundesliga as it does not reflect the form they are in.

After picking up just nine points during the entire first half of the season, Augsburg have started 2013 with a win and a draw and Hecking has been particularly impressed with what he has seen.

"You could see in their game against Schalke that our opponents are facing up to their battle for survival,'' he said.

"I saw them a fortnight ago in Dusseldorf and they surprised me with their courageous play.

"Certainly their good start to the second half of the season has given them euphoria.

"Augsburg will therefore try all they can to carry on their small run of form in Wolfsburg.''

That is precisely what Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl has in mind.

"After picking up four points from our first two games after the winter break, we want to pick something up in Wolfsburg too,'' he said.

"We want to build on our performances and carry on picking up points, even if we know that Wolfsburg have a great deal of individual quality.''

Weinzierl is aiming to name an unchanged side from the draw with Schalke a week ago, although Ja-Cheol Koo and Ronny Philp are carrying knocks and Daniel Baier has missed training with a cold.

Regular goalkeeper Simon Jentzsch is not an option yet due to a finger injury.

Wolfsburg striker Patrick Helmes could be back in action soon after spending the last six months sidelined with a knee injury, although tomorrow's game is likely to come too soon for him.

"I would like to try him out once in a friendly match in midweek first,'' said Hecking.
