League leaders Cardiff welcome back Matthew Connolly from suspension for the visit of Millwall.
The defender, 25, missed the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace after picking up a fifth caution of the campaign during the win against Leicester.
But the player may struggle to reclaim his spot at right-back after his replacement Kevin Naughton received praise from Malky Mackay for the way he dealt with Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.
Mackay could hand Aron Gunnarsson a start after the midfielder came off the bench at half time and scored the winner against Ian Holloway's side.
Kim Bo-Kyung is pushing for a recall after being dropped to the bench on Boxing Day as Craig Noone was preferred in midfield.
Attacker Tommy Smith and midfielder Kadeem Harris are closing in on a return but Nicky Maynard is out for the rest of the campaign with a knee ligament injury.
Adam Smith is available for Millwall after the club successfully appealed against his red card.
The on-loan Tottenham defender was facing a three-match ban after being dismissed in the second half of the 2-1 home defeat to Barnsley.
However, the Lions launched an appeal and on Thursday an FA disciplinary hearing overturned the decision.
Striker Andy Keogh has been struggling with a broken toe and missed the Tykes clash but he could return to contention.
Kenny Jackett's side side have claimed just one win from their last five games, a run which could prompt the boss to make changes.
His alternative options include midfielders Shaun Batt and Dany N'Guessan, both of whom were on the bench last time out.
