Having become a leading star in his native Brazil, Oscar earned a "dream" move to Chelsea in the summer of 2012 for a reported fee of £25 million.

He began his career at Sao Paulo in 2004 but did not make his debut until 2008, when he helped the side to win the Brazilian Championship that year. However, the following season saw things turn bitter as he was not paid and rescinded his contract, eventually being made to go through the courts before a compensation payment of €6 million was enough to allow him to move to Internacional.

The versatile midfielder - who can play as a No. 10, from either flank, as a second striker or as a deep-lying midfielder - helped the side to win two Campeonato Gaucho titles and also claimed the Recopa Sudamericana.

Also making waves on the international scene, Oscar showed his talent as he helped the Brazilian youth side to win the South American Youth Championship, the FIFA Under-20 World Cup and the Superclasico de las Americas all in 2011. It was enough to get a first-team chance and he made his senior Brazil debut in September 2011 against Argentina before attracting some of Europe's top clubs with his skills.

Strengths: His game is based on movement, dynamism and short, sharp passing; he is a fine finisher with either foot and can score a lot of goals with late runs from midfield.

Weaknesses: Not the most physical of players, Oscar can be bullied and sometimes drifts out of games towards the end once his stamina runs out.

Career high: He was named Man of the Match at the 2011 Under-20 World Cup final after scoring a hat-trick against Portugal.

Career low: A bitter fall-out with Sao Paulo ended with him leaving the club after not being paid in 2009.

Style: Techincal, agile, energetic, a versatile forward with great vision.

Quotes: ''It wasn't only me at the [Under-20] World Cup. There was Dudu and Henrique too. I stood out more at the end, but it was a good tournament for everyone. Now, there are many from the Under-20 side in the Selecao.'' A humble Oscar on his rise to fame for the national team, 2012.

Trivia: Oscar's hat-trick in 2011 is only the second time a player has scored three goals in a World Cup final match (Geoff Hurst '66).
