2013/14 English Premier League
A physically powerful yet still technically and mentally raw midfielder, Frimpong has the potential to be an Arsenal regular.
Frimpong caught the attention of Arsenal in 2000 at the age of eight. He would cut his teeth with the Gunners' academy, alongside fellow midfielder Jack Wilshere and, during this time, he twice won the Premier Academy League and also lifted the FA Youth Cup in 2009.
Working his way through the ranks, he was promoted to the reserves in 2008. Two years later, he impressed during pre-season with the first-team, with manager Arsene Wenger hinting he was ready to hand the defensive midfielder a chance to shine on the competitive stage.
Alas, his development was stunted after he sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury, ruling him out for nine months. Although after recovering from the injury which ruled him out for a full season, Frimpong again impressed during pre-season ahead of the 2011-12 season.
He made his first Premier League appearance versus Newcastle, while his first start was against Liverpool; yet the latter was marred by a red card. A lack of opportunities led to him being loan out to Wolves in January 2012, where he impressed until another cruciate ligament injury ended his season. He returned to the club and, after a seven-month lay-off, went out on loan again to Charlton and then Fulham.
Strengths: Frimpong is strong in the challenge, eager to be successful in a 50-50. He is committed and boasts decent stamina.
Weaknesses: Tactically naive, also no stranger to seeing red mist and letting his emotions spill over.
Career high: Winning the FA Premier Academy League and FA Youth Cup double in 2009.
Career low: Being sent off on his first Premier League start for Arsenal.
Style: Tough-tackling, committed, a solid holding midfielder.
Quotes: "Here you have a boy who can choose between England and Ghana. So if I was in your place, I would have no hesitation and invite him to play very quickly for England." - Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, 2010.
Trivia: Frimpong is the cousin to rapper Lethal Bizzle and has also featured on a song saying his famous catchphrase of 'DENCH'.
