Victor Moses has long been tipped to become a major star in English football.

The Nigeria international, who can play on the wing or as a second striker, caught the eye at 14 after scoring 50 goals for Crystal Palace's Under-14 side and later starred for England at youth level.

He made the breakthrough at Selhurt Park in the 2007-08 season, when he made 13 appearances for the first-team. With his stock continuing to rise, Moses signed a four-year deal to stay at Selhurst Park in 2008, and impressed in the Championship where he became an important member of the team.

A goal return of six in 18 matches at the start of the 2009-10 season attracted Wigan, who pounced to bring him in on the last day of the transfer window and he was sold to aid Palace's financial plight.

While he was unable to prove himself a regular goal-getter for Wigan, his livewire performances attracted plenty of notice, and he became a key player for Wigan in the 2011-12 season.

After that campaign, with only one year remaining on his contract, Chelsea made several attempts to sign him and, while Wigan resisted several offers, the Blues finally got their man towards the end of the summer window.

Strengths: He has pace and power and can be a real attacking force when charging forwards with the ball.

Weaknesses: He can be wasteful in front of goal and his decision-making could improve.

Career high: Finally joining European champions Chelsea in August 2012 after four previous bids had been rejected.

Career low: After scoring three goals for England at the Under-17 World Championships, he sustained an injury that ruled him out of the competition.

Style: A technically gifted forward with the ability to run at defenders and cause problems for the opposition.

Quote: "He can play on either wing and will give the team width. He has good dribbling ability, has pace and is powerful. We've tried very hard to get this player. We like him very much. He's young and hopefully he'll be the future of the club." Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo, August 2012

Trivia: Moses was twice denied his international debut for Nigeria. A friendly against Guatemala in February 2011 was cancelled, and attempts to play for the country the following month were thwarted as FIFA did not receive his application to switch nationalities in time. His debut finally came in November that year.
