Willian Borges da Silva is another talent to emerge from Brazil's consistently impressive production line of technically adept footballers.
Willian started his career at Corinthians, where, during his early teenage years, he lifted the Copa Sao Paulo de Futebol Junior. His displays swiftly earned him a place in the first-team, and scouts from Europe soon started to take notice of the gifted 5' 8" midfielder.
And in 2007, the same year he won the South American Youth Championship with Brazil, Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk swooped for his services for £12 million, the player signing a five-year deal with the club.
Willian, who can play as an attacking midfielder or winger, worked hard to adapt to the European differences in the game, and his quality steadily shone through. Indeed, the Brazilian's creative instincts began to dazzle, and he helped Shakhtar to a fine treble in 2008 as they won the Ukrainian Premier League, Ukrainian Cup and Ukrainian Super Cup.
A year later, Willian and his team-mates claimed European glory, seeing off Werder Bremen 2-1 in the UEFA Cup final in Istanbul, before two further Ukrainian Premier League titles followed.
The big boys in Europe were now really beginning to stand up and take notice, and Premier League side Chelsea were strongly linked before Anzhi swooped with a €35 million bid in January 2013.
Strengths: Willian oozes flair, and his low centre of gravity makes him a sensational dribbler.
Weaknesses: His defensive side of the game is not the strongest and he can be caught out of position when he does not track back.
Career high: Being voted the best player of the 2010-11 Ukrainian league season.
Career low: His chances to impress on the international stage have so far been restricted to just a handful of caps.
Style: An expressive player, capable of moments of genuine quality leading to stunning goals and assists.
Quotes: "They [Chelsea] have a culture of winning trophies and that excites me" - Willian in 2012.
Trivia: In December 2011, Willian earned a nomination for the Samba Gold Trophy, which is given to the best Brazilian player in Europe each year.
