Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti sacks agent, hires Mino Raiola

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has hired super agent Mino Raiola after a falling out with his former advisor over comments earlier this month.

The in-demand Italy international is a reported target of Barcelona this summer, with Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu having confirmed the club's interest in landing Verratti, even saying the player himself wants to move to Camp Nou.

However, PSG have so far refused to open negotiations with Barca and the player felt compelled to apologise for agent Donato Di Campli's comments in early July describing his now-former client as a "prisoner" at the Parisian club.

The 24-year-old took to social media on Wednesday to announce he'd hired Raiola, who represents the likes of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Romelu Lukaku, Gianluigi Donnarumma and Mario Balotelli.

"I hereby announce that, as of this moment, the only person who is authorised to represent me in all matters related to sport is Mr Mino Raiola," Verratti wrote on Instagram.

"I thank Mr Di Campli for the excellent job done so far and I take the chance to confirm my deep and unchanged faith in his abilities."

Verratti is currently with the team in the United States for their preseason summer tour.
