Thiago Silva: Paris Saint-Germain have lost Ligue 1 title to Monaco

Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva has conceded defeat to Monaco in the race for the Ligue 1 title but urged his teammates to "stay positive."

Both teams won at the weekend as Monaco maintained their three-point advantage over PSG, who have lifted the title in each of the last four seasons.

The reigning champions have one game remaining but Monaco's run to the Champions League semifinals means they have a game in hand and can claim the title with a point at home to Saint-Etienne on Wednesday.

After being named in Ligue 1's Team of the Year -- one of three PSG players alongside six Monaco stars -- Silva told reporters: "We have lost the title. They have had a great season -- you have to congratulate them because it's not easy to have a season like that.

"Mathematically it's not over, and anything can happen in football. As long as we have a chance, we have to continue believing, keep thinking positively, but it's true that it's not easy.

"Monaco have not made a mess of a match all season and I don't think they're going to start now.

"But we have to stay positive, think about what we have done well this season and try to do better next year."
