PSG boss Unai Emery thinks Julian Draxler's injury is not serious

Paris Saint-Germain coach Unai Emery has admitted the extent of Julian Draxler's injury sustained in Saturday's 2-0 win away at FC Nantes is unknown for now but the Spaniard hopes it is not serious.

Draxler limped off in the 68th minute, moments after sitting down clutching his left calf muscle. But Emery said after the game: "I do not think it is serious. I hope it is just a knock."

Edinson Cavani scored twice as the French champions recorded a fifth consecutive competitive win across all domestic competitions and a third straight Ligue 1 victory.

Speaking after the final whistle, Emery was pleased with the result and performance ahead of next weekend's clash against Monaco.

"We knew we were in for a very difficult match because Nantes were in a good spell and are very strong at home," said the Basque tactician. "We showed great control. We played with personality and serenity. When we escape the pressing, we can score, the first goal showed that.

"The match against Monaco? First, there is the Coupe de la Ligue semi-final against Bordeaux, which is important. We have to prepare well.

Cavani was delighted with his double, which takes him to 20 Ligue 1 goals for the first time but the Uruguay international was more interested in doing his bit for the team.

"Above all it is a good evening because we came here to win," El Matador said. "It is a good victory that will give us more confidence.

"There are still a lot of games, but we are on the right track, the one we want to be on to finish the season well.

"It is good for my confidence because strikers live to score goals. Scoring is my job. I must help the team, so I am happy and I hope I can keep it going."

Speaking with beIN Sports France, Thomas Meunier felt it was a superb PSG performance and the Belgium international was delighted with the control showed by Les Parisiens.

"Nantes showed a lot of determination from the start of the game," said Meunier. "They put us under pressure without really managing to be dangerous.

"We had a team that really wanted it up against us. Gradually, we took charge of things as a great team does.

"Defensively, we were solid and took advantage of counter-attacks. We had chances; we put two of them away. It was a super PSG today."

Substitute Hatem Ben Arfa has been impressed by 2017's improved PSG and the Frenchman and told Canal+ Sport he believes he and his teammates are in the process of readying themselves for Monaco in Ligue 1 and Barcelona in the Champions League.

"I think since the start of the year we have really taken a step up in terms of our play and our unity," Ben Arfa said. "We are more compact going forward and at the back. We are ready for the matches against Monaco and Barcelona and for what comes after that.

"The defeat to Guingamp hurt us, but it also kickstarted us. Since then, we have been more dominant, more focused, more unified."
