Serge Aurier happy at Paris Saint-Germain amid Barcelona interest

Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier admits reports of Barcelona's interest are "a pleasure to hear," but the Ivory Coast international insists his "future is still in Paris."

Speaking with TF1's Telefoot, the 23-year-old emphasised he intends to honour his current contract with the French champions and is not planning a departure anytime soon.

"I have three years of contract left," Aurier said. "I will continue to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world."

Aurier has often found himself in the headlines for a variety of reasons this year, most recently for a gesture made when celebrating a goal he assisted for the Ivory Coast.

On top of that, Mali coach Alain Giresse and national team coordinator Fousseni Diawara praised Aurier for helping to save the life of Moussa Doumbia after he suffered an epileptic fit during the match.

Former PSG player Clement Chantome, who knows Aurier, recently said he was concerned about the defender's "disturbing" behaviour.

"Even when I was young, I was doing a lot of silly things," Aurier said. "My cut-throat gesture with the Ivory Coast? It was simply joy, nothing malicious.

"I learn from my mistakes. This year has been difficult outside of sporting matters and my family have suffered because of it. I apologised for my stupidity. I am glad I am making progress on the pitch, though.

Aurier was also suspended by PSG after insulting former coach Laurent Blanc on social media, and is awaiting the result of an appeal against a "convertible" two-month prison sentence after being charged with assaulting a police officer.

Despite his disastrous first outing on social media video platform Periscope, the player admitted he would use it again in the event of a particular achievement.

"Would I use Periscope again? Yes, with friends, without the same words," Aurier said. "I hope to win the Champions League and do another Periscope with the trophy in my hands."

Aurier's PSG future has been the subject of intense scrutiny because of the controversy created by his behaviour and he revealed PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, is a major reason for him remaining at Parc des Princes.

"The president's support? He loves me very much," Aurier said. "A normal president would have taken a severe decision. If I am here today, it is thanks to him."
