PSG's Laurent Blanc says 'result is not in our favour' after first-leg draw

Paris Saint-Germain boss Laurent Blanc rued the concession of an away goal as his side battled for a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Chelsea will take a slight advantage back to London in the second leg after Branislav Ivanovic netted a vital goal at Parc des Princes.

Edinson Cavani was able to equalise, but the scoreline is not as grand as when the teams met in the quarterfinals last year, when a 3-1 advantage from the first leg could not prevent PSG from going out on away goals.

Blanc believes his side are capable of upsetting Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, though he's wary of Chelsea's away goal again making the difference.

"The result is not in our favour," he said. "I'm satisfied by my team, by my players. It was almost perfect. Unfortunately we conceded a goal.

"I would've rather won 3-1 again. I think we played a better game than last season.

"Chelsea didn't show much in attack tonight. The only shot they had on target was the goal they scored.

"But in the last two games we've had in the knockout phase of the Champions League, the away goal cost us qualification. We have to remember that.

"Chelsea have a slight advantage playing at home in the second leg, and we know they're strong on the counter-attack so we can't just go gung-ho.

"But we have very good attacking players. We know we can score against anyone and from anywhere."

Blanc also paid tribute to Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois, who made a number of fine saves, particularly to deny Cavani in the first half and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in stoppage time.

"What amazes me is that Courtois, despite his height, is still very quick," Blanc said. "I watched the two headers from Ibrahimovic and he moves so quickly on his feet to react to both of them. He's one of the top goalkeepers in the world."
