Olympiakos name Victor Sanchez as new coach

Olympiakos have named Victor Sanchez as their new coach following the resignation of Marco Silva.

The Greek club announced on Thursday that Silva, who led Olympiakos to a 43rd Super League title last season, had stepped down due to "personal reasons" after one year in charge.

Olympiakos said they had accepted the 38-year-old Portuguese's resignation and soon after announced Sanchez as their new boss.

A statement on the club's website read: "Olympiakos announces the start of its collaboration with Spanish coach Victor Sanchez."

Sanchez, who had been linked with the vacant managerial position at Nottingham Forest, was in charge of Deportivo La Coruna last season but was sacked following a 15th-placed finish in La Liga,

The 40-year-old former Spain international was previously an assistant coach at Olympiakos under Michel.
