Rangers on the rebound, win thriller against Wikki Tourists

Rangers won successive games for the first time this season, defeating Wikki Tourists 3-2 on Wednesday following up on Sunday's win against Kano Pillars.

Goals from Bobby Clement, Ifeanyi George, and Ousmane Pape Sane secured all three points for Rangers in a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League match-day 13 encounter at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.

Wikki, who had struggled all season on the road, took the game to the home side and could have gone ahead; Abubakar Lawal and Shammah Tanze both narrowly missing target within the opening 10 minutes.

The Flying Antelopes patiently waited for an opening, going ahead with their first meaningful attack of the game through Bobby Clement. He rose highest to head home Bright Silas's cross to give the home crowd something to cheer about after 12 minutes.

The goal brought out the confidence in Rangers, who played with a certain swagger and confidence; Emeka Nwabulu having to come to Wikki's rescue, saving Ugwu Uwadiegwu's cross which missed the lurking Clement by a few centimetres.

Abdullahi Musa then handled the ball under pressure five minutes before half-time, allowing Ifeanyi George to slot home from the penalty spot an give Rangers a two-goal advantage, his second goal in two games.

Sustained pressure from the visiting team saw Senegalese defender Sane foul Shammah Tanze in the box. Former junior international Samuel Chukwudi converted the spot-kick to reduce the deficit.

However, Sane made amends at the other end, connecting beautifully with Uwadiegwu's corner-kick to give the home team a two-goal advantage.

The visitors netted a second goal; Victor Alegbe found Tanze who calmly lifted the ball over Bassey Akpan, to ensure a lively finish to an entertaining encounter.
