Halliche, 25, has endured a nightmare spell in West London - starting just two games for the Cottagers since arriving from Benfica last August.

The Algeria international was supposed to join Swansea on loan after agreeing a deal on the final day of the transfer window but he was refused international clearance by FIFA and has continued to only hold a watching brief at Fulham.

In a bid to resurrect his career, Halliche has travelled to Celtic's Lennoxtown training base to go on trial in a bid to prove his worth to Parkhead chief Neil Lennon.

A loan move in January would be the most likely option, although with Halliche surplus to requirements under Martin Jol, Celtic may be able to negotiate a cut-price deal for the centre-back, who played all of Algeria's matches at the 2010 World Cup.
