Huntelaar compared to Van Basten
Bernd Schuster has hailed Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar as a clone of Netherlands legend Marco van Basten.
Huntelaar, 28, was tipped to become a world-class forward after a prolific three-year spell with Ajax, but he struggled to live up to expectations when joining Real Madrid in 2009 and a spell with AC Milan ultimately proved disappointing.
However, he left Schalke in 2010 and has been in fine form this season with 12 league goals and six in six games in the Europa League, and Schuster - who left his position as Madrid boss a month before Huntelaar's arrival - feels he bears close comparison with former Milan star Van Basten.
"He looks like he was cloned from Marco van Basten," the German told the official UEFA website. "The way he moves, shoots with both legs and his powerful headers, all reminds me of Van Basten."
Schalke team-mate Lewis Holtby was also fulsome in his praise of the Dutchman: "You could behead him and he would still score goals. I knew the Dutch knew the holes in their cheeses but Klaas finds every hole in the opposition defence."
