Mauro Zarate is unlikely to leave Lazio this summer, according to the player's agent.

Zarate has been strongly linked with a move away from the Biancoceleste following a rift with coach Edy Reja, with Inter Milan and Arsenal reportedly interested in acquiring the Argentina striker on loan for the season. However, Lazio will only let the player leave on a permanent transfer.

''There was minor interest from Inter but the loan option did not satisfy (Lazio president Claudio) Lotito,'' said Zarate's agent Giuseppe Bozzo to Gazzetta dello Sport.

''With Zarate, the club president made a strong investment and he does not want to lose out. There are not many clubs willing to spend €21 million for Mauro and there is a 99% chance that he will remain at Lazio.''

Zarate joined Lazio in 2008 in a €20 million deal from Al-Sadd. The South American, who scored nine goals in 35 league appearances for Lazio last season, is under contract until June 2014.
