Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini thinks that current champions AC Milan are the favourites to reclaim their title this season and that rivals Inter are 'a step behind'.

Milan finished six points ahead of Inter last season while conceding only 24 goals and have strengthened their side for this season with the addition of Stephan El Shaarawy, Marco Amelia, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Philippe Mexes and Taye Taiwo.

Meanwhile, Inter have spent the summer dealing with speculation over the future of Wesley Sneijder and Samuel Eto'o, with the Cameroon striker set to complete a €35 million move to Russian side Anzhi. They have brought in Jonathan, Ricardo Alvarez, Emiliano Viviano, Yuto Nagatomo and Luc Castaignos but Chiellini thinks that it isn't enough.

Chiellini told "It's right that Milan start ahead of the rest, they are favourites and I think Inter are a step behind them."

He also had his say on the possible sale of Eto'o, maintain: "If Inter sell Eto'o then they will sign another strong player, so I don't think they will be any different.''

Chiellini's own side, Juventus, finished in seventh place last season and won't be playing European football this year. However he added: "We are a strong team who can do well."
