Rovers narrowly avoided relegation last season in the Premier League, and subsequently lost defender Phil Jones in a £16.5 million transfer to Manchester United. But Kean is confident they'll be competing with the cream of Europe by 2015.

"Phil (Jones) had only played a small number of games for us but he wanted Champions League football and we're not at that moment yet," he told The Sun. "Hopefully we will be there in three of four years and that's what we're trying to deliver.

"I'm not going to say we're going to deliver European football next year. To jump from where we were last season into the top four would be unrealistic. But it is achieveable for this club to get there in the next few years."

Blackburn have made just one signing so far this summer, bringing in 20-year-old defender Myles Anderson from Aberdeen, but the club said on Wednesday they were planning to bring in three new players before the start of the season.
