Midfielder Jack Rodwell feels he has to establish himself at Everton in the coming campaign after struggling to make the grade last season.
Rodwell, 20, has long been considered one of the finer young talents in England and has regularly been linked with Manchester United, but the midfielder did not live up to expectations last year.
"It's a massive season for me," he told evertontv. "I've got to try and establish myself. I'm not a kid anymore and I want to be a regular."
Rodwell also suffered disappointment with the England Under-21 side in Denmark last month as he had to battle for his place before the team exited at the group stage.
"It was disappointing the way it went but we'll take the experience from it because we're all young players," he said. "There was high expectation and there was hype about us and we didn't achieve what we expected but that's football.
"There are a lot of lads who can play in the next tournament so it's good experience."
