Jonathan, 25, has only been at Santos for seven months having joined the club from Cruzeiro last December but after winning the Copa Libertadores with the Brazilian giants, he now appears set to move to Europe.
A fee of around £3.5 million has been mooted in the Italian press, though reports elsewhere suggest the right-back has a release clause of €15 million in his four-year contract with Santos.
"Negotiations are at an advanced stage. He hasn't signed yet, but I think the talks are 95 per cent completed," Tadic told FcInterNews. "Jonathan will be in Italy between Monday and Tuesday to have his medical and sign the contract with Inter."
When asked on Monday about Jonathan, Inter Milan boss Gian Piero Gasperini confirmed: "His arrival is imminent.''
Should Jonathan's switch to the San Siro be finalised it would likely raise serious questions about the future of compatriot Maicon.
Jonathan has been tipped as a potential successor for Maicon in the Brazil national team and already has experience of replacing the Inter star having stepped into the breach at Cruzeiro following his departure to Monaco.
Maicon has been heavily linked with a reunion with former boss Jose Mourinho at Inter and recently said he will discuss his future after the Copa America.
"I am happy at Inter, but we will speak about Real Madrid and Inter after the Copa," Maicon told Il Corriere dello Sport. "I want to win a trophy with Brazil and this is my only objective right now."
