Celtic eye Damari deal

June 30, 2011

Celtic are poised to move for Israel striker Omer Damari after wrapping up a deal that should bring Kenya midfielder Victor Wanyama to Parkhead.

Celtic's interest in 22-year-old Damari also stepped up with the club holding talks over a move, although they stressed no bid had been made.

The striker's club are confident of securing a deal though, claiming Damari has his heart set on joining international team-mate Beram Kayal at Parkhead.

Maccabi Petah Tikvah president Amos Luzon told STV: ''He is one of the best strikers in Europe and I promise Celtic will make a lot of money for him in two years. I think he will be worth £10 million, minimum.

''Maccabi Haifa wanted him, Hapoel Tel Aviv wanted him, other clubs in Europe wanted him, but the player just wants to play for Celtic.''

Celtic have also been linked with a move for Kaizer Chiefs forward Knowledge Musona, with reports in Africa claiming they had written to the South African club expressing an interest in the 21-year-old.

But the Zimbabwe international, who scored 20 goals last season, has been invited for a trial with German club Hoffenheim.

Musona said: ''I can't say I'm leaving for now, because I still have to travel to Germany for trials and I haven't heard anything about Celtic, but it is my dream to play in the top leagues in Europe and my team, Chiefs, will let me go to fulfil my dreams.

''I was nervous when I came to Chiefs, but I adapted. If I sign for the German team I will be nervous but I will adapt. I feel I'm ready to play overseas.''

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has also admitted interest in Central Coast Mariners midfielder Mustafa Amini, 18, who will play against the Hoops in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
