Newcastle have agreed the signing of Rennes star Sylvain Marveaux on a free transfer.

• Magpies seal Ba deal
• Nolan joins West Ham
• Cabaye signs for Newcastle
Marveaux, 25, will complete the move upon the expiry of his contract at the end of June and has agreed a five-year deal at St James' Park.
Marveaux, a left-sided midfielder, had been widely expected to sign for Liverpool but it was reported on Friday that there had been problems with his medical.
Marveaux has been sidelined since November after sustaining a groin injury, but Newcastle are satisfied that it will not prove a long-term problem and Pardew is delighted to have won the race to sign the player.
Pardew said: "It's a great coup to have signed Sylvain, who has received interest from a number of other clubs. He may not be well known to many of our fans, but he is a real talent and a player we have been keeping an eye on for some time. It's been a good couple of days for us on the transfer front."
Marveaux's arrival follows the signings of Yohan Cabaye, from Lille, and Demba Ba, from West Ham.
