Klose, a free agent after deciding to end his time in Munich, announced his decision to leave last week and expressed his admiration for the city of Rome, as well as the club colours of Lazio.

But despite late interest from Valencia, Klose offically signed a contract with Lazio on Wednesday evening and will undergo the required medical tests on Thursday.

A statement on the Lazio website read: ''Miroslav Klose is a player of SS Lazio. Tomorrow Style Lazio live on Radio will have the first words of the new signing.''

Klose endured a disappointing 2010-11 campaign with Bayern, scoring just once in 20 league appearances.

Lazio president Claudio Lotito was thrilled with the arrival of the German striker.

''I am very happy,'' Lotito said. ''He is a signing of international level. I have spoken to (Lazio coach Edy) Reja and he is over the moon. Klose was one of the transfer requests made by our coach and we have succeeded.''

Lotito, whose team will be playing in the Europa League next season after ending the campaign in fifth place, confirmed the team will continue to be strengthened this summer.

''It's not over yet,'' he said. ''The transfer market is long and it has only just started.''
