Germany coach Joachim Low's lucky sweater from the 2010 World Cup will be housed on show in the German football federation's (DFB) museum.

Low wore the tight-fitting, blue cashmere number as he led his side to third place in South Africa and the German players started to believe that it was a good-luck charm when he donned a cardigan for their group stage defeat to Serbia.

Now, the sweater will be on ''permanent loan'' from a private company and can be seen at the DFB museum in Dortmund from 2014 onwards.

"This is a great idea," Low said in a statement. "This sweater is an unforgettable reminder of the World Cup in South Africa and the amazing time millions of fans, our players and coaches had."

Assistant coach Hansi Flick also chose to wear a blue top in some of the matches, but the luck appeared to wear out as Germany were beaten 1-0 by Spain in the semi-finals.
