Cologne have appointed Norwegian Stale Solbakken as their new coach for next season.
The 43-year-old had been due to take over as Norway coach from next year, but Cologne announced on Saturday they had come to an agreement with the Norwegian Football Association.
The former FC Copenhagen boss will take over from acting coach Volker Finke, the sporting director who took charge for the final three games of the Bundesliga season following the resignation of Frank Schaefer.
A statement from Cologne read: "Cologne have reached an agreement with Stale Solbakken and the Norwegian Football Association over the transfer of the 43-year-old for the coming season.
"Solbakken will take over as head coach of Cologne from 1 July 2011. He will be officially presented at a press conference this Tuesday.''
Solbakken led Copenhagen to five Danish titles. Cologne ended their Bundesliga campaign with a 2-1 home win over Schalke on Saturday
