The agent of Wolfsburg defender Simon Kjaer has dismissed speculation linking his client with a return to Serie A, insisting the former Palermo man intends to honour his contract in Germany.

Kjaer, 22, has endured a difficult debut campaign in the Bundesliga and his Wolfsburg side are currently only above the relegation zone on goal difference with one game remaining.

Reports in the Italian press have suggested that the Denmark international is a target for Roma, who are losing first-choice centre-back Philippe Mexes to AC Milan.

But the speculation about Kjaer, who made his name in a successful two-year spell at Palermo, is untrue according to his agent Mikkel Beck.

"I have never had any kind of contact with Roma and I know nothing of this interest," Beck said. "I don't know where these rumours emerge from. As far as I am aware, Simon has not been requested by Roma or any other Italian clubs.

"At the moment a return to Italy is not on the cards. He has a long contract with Wolfsburg and he intends to respect it. Anyway, if a club does want him then they would need to go and talk to the Wolfsburg officials and not me."

Kjaer's Wolfsburg contract runs until 2014, but if the 2008-09 Bundesliga champions were to suffer relegation, there will likely be a queue of clubs looking to acquire the centre-back's services.
