David Beckham says he is glad to have put his fitness issues behind him and is ready to focus on the new MLS season for L.A. Galaxy.
Beckham, 35, made his long-awaited return to action in the pre-season friendly against Mexican side Club Tijuana following his seven-week training stint at Tottenham and completed 74 minutes before he was withdrawn by boss Bruce Arena.
The Galaxy were held to a 2-2 draw, with Beckham contributing an assist for one of the goals, before losing 4-3 in a penalty shootout.
Speaking after the game in San Diego, Beckham said: ''Obviously, my first game back, and I felt pretty good at times, and I think the fitness side is good to get out of the way. Once that first game is out of the way, you can move on.''
The Galaxy's first game of the new MLS campaign is against Seattle Sounders on March 15.
