Meireles scoops ESPN PFA award
Meireles, 27, has been an Anfield revelation since the turn of the year, having initially struggled to make an impression after being brought to the club by Roy Hodgson last August.
The Portuguese international has spearheaded the club's recent revival - scoring three goals in three successive games in February. He scored the opener against Stoke in a 2-0 victory at the start of the month, before crowning an excellent all-round display at Chelsea with a superbly-taken winner.
Both of those goals were left-foot finishes, but the former Porto man proved as adept with his right in the next game, netting a sweetly struck volley in the 1-1 draw with Wigan.
Liverpool will be hoping his dominant and dynamic displays continue as they look to continue their recent climb up the Premier League title and compete for Europa League honours.
Reds boss Dalglish has been full of praise Meireles of late and claimed that he is not at all surprised by the influential midfielder's impressive displays.
"Understandably Raul has been getting some headlines for the goals he's scored in recent weeks," Dalglish said. "His performances have been what I've expected. I knew he was a good footballer before he came to the club and he's shown that.
"He's intelligent and very good technically; he puts in a pile of running too. He's getting on the scoresheet so often because he's playing a bit further forward. Those goals are a huge bonus for us.
With Meireles in such a rich vein of form, Liverpool will be hoping he shakes off a knee injury sustained at West Ham in time to face Manchester United at the weekend.
Liverpool assistant boss Steve Clarke said: "We're hopeful. Meireles had a little problem with his knee and as a precaution at the start of the second half we thought it was better to take him off. That gives him a better chance of being ready for the next game.
"He'll get three or four days on the easier list and then hopefully towards the end of the week we'll be able to put him back in the preparations for the weekend."
