Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri is ready to pledge his long-term future to the Gunners by penning a new deal, his agent Jean-Pierre Bernes has confirmed.
Nasri, 24, joined Arsenal from Marseille in 2008 and is currently enjoying his most impressive season at Emirates Stadium - but he has just 18 months remaining on his current contract.
The France international has emerged as a key member of the Gunners' first-team, with his superb performances in the current campaign leading to suggestions that he could be a frontrunner for the Footballer of the Year award.
Having scored nine goals in 20 Premier League appearances, Nasri has reportedly caught the eye of Barcelona - but Bernes insists that the player wants to remain at Arsenal. "Samir has done his three seasons with Arsenal and the wise thing to do is to stay with this club," Bernes told the Daily Express:
Nasri is currently out of action with a hamstring injury sustained during Arsenal's 2-1 FA Cup win over Huddersfield Town.
