Muntari enjoyed an impressive first stint in English football with Portsmouth, where he was signed by Harry Redknapp. He later moved to Italy for £12 million.

Wearsiders' boss Steve Bruce recently made approaches for Muntari and Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Stephane Sessegnon, but he looks set to fail with at least one of those bids.

Muntari has recently been linked to a reunion with Redknapp at Spurs, where Wilson Palacios has shown inconsistent form this season, and the Ghana international insists he would only move to the capital.

"If I have to leave Inter Milan, I'll go to London," he told the Italian media. "That is the only possibility." Bruce had been targeting a loan arrangement with Muntari.
