Marseille came from a goal down to book their place in the semi-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue with a 2-1 win over Monaco on Wednesday.
And Cesar Azpilicueta scored what proved to be the winner on the hour mark for Didier Deschamps' side.
Montpellier were also 2-1 winners on the night against Lille, thanks to a brace from Hasan Kabze.
Kabze struck after 28 and 52 minutes to put the home side in command, while Lille reduced the deficit on 68 minutes through substitute Eden Hazard but were unable to find an equaliser.
Elsewhere, Paris St Germain recovered from conceding after just three minutes to beat Valenciennes 3-1.
Peguy Luyindula sealed the win early in the second half.
