Fiorentina chief insists Mihajlovic job safe
Fiorentina boss Sinisa Mihajlovic has been given a vote of confidence by La Viola owner Andrea Della Valle, who insists that the Serbian will not be sacked despite the club's mediocre start to the Serie A season.
Mihajlovic oversaw Fiorentina's fourth loss of the season on Sunday, as his side crashed to a 2-1 home defeat to Palermo, a result that leaves La Viola fourth from bottom in the table, above Parma, Roma and Udinese.
After an impressive Champions League campaign under Cesare Prandelli last season, Fiorentina fans were hopeful of their club pushing on domestically. But the former Catania manager has only managed to engineer one victory since arriving in Florence - a 2-0 victory over fellow strugglers Parma.
Yet, despite the pressure apparently mounting on Mihajlovic, Della Valle insists his job is safe.
"We thought we'd overcome the difficulties, but I wouldn't dramatise anything," Della Valle said. "Sinisa isn't the problem. It's not easy to change after many years."
Mihajlovic now faces important matches against Bari, Sampdoria and former club Catania in the coming weeks.
