A tense first hour was brought to an end when Alou Diarra headed his side in front, and Jussie doubled the lead in stoppage time to lift Bordeaux above their opponents in the table. It could have been different, though, had Cedric Carrasso not turned Bafetimbi Gomis' shot two minutes earlier onto the bar.

Moussa Sow's last-minute goal earned Lille a deserved 1-0 victory from a hard-fought clash with Auxerre.

The visitors possibly had the better of the first half but Lille took control after the break and Pierre-Alain Frau had a goal disallowed. And Sow's late contribution represented an overdue return on their efforts and secured a second victory of the season.

Rennes passed up the chance to go top of the table as they could only manage a goalless draw at Paris St Germain.

Results left Rennes with a chance of finishing the weekend top of the table, but they could only claim a point from a match which either side could have won, though the hosts looked more like taking in the second half.
