Lazio president Claudio Lotito has denied Mauro Zarate could be on his way out of the club.
Former Birmingham star Zarate, 23, has been linked with a return to the Premier League on numerous occasions, and there had been reports he was set to join Tottenham on deadline day.
However, Lotito said: "There is no Zarate problem at Lazio. The lad is looked after by the club and only needs to focus on playing. As for Tottenham, there were no negotiations for Zarate. The Argentine remains a crucial player for Lazio."
His agent and brother, Sergio Zarate, also rejected talk that the forward was set to move on in the near future.
"I read about Tottenham in the newspapers, but did not hear anything directly," he told Tuttomercatoweb. "The last time I spoke to Mauro he had no problems. He doesn't want to leave Lazio, as he has a contract.
"If there was to be a situation where he doesn't get on with the coach, then clearly he would have to look around at other options, but at this moment in time we are not thinking of leaving Lazio."
