Caretaker Argentina boss Sergio Batista believes his side would have beaten Spain on Tuesday no matter what team they put out.

Del Bosque: Spain will learn

Argentina secured a 4-1 friendly victory in Buenos Aires but, although Spain did name top stars such as Andres Iniesta, Xabi Alonso and David Villa in the starting line-up, they also included fringe players like Pepe Reina and Nacho Monreal.

Batista, though, feels the absence of the likes of Carles Puyol, Iker Casillas and Fernando Torres made no difference to the result.

"I am happy with how the team worked together," he told TyC Sports. "Everything came out perfectly. We should not underestimate what we did yesterday. If Spain had put in a full team, we would have beaten them in the same way."

He added: "A win like this is an important step because we won 4-1, and we would have fallen back one thousand steps if we lost 4-1."
