Skacel, 31, is a free agent after leaving Greek side Larissa and admits he is very tempted by the prospect of returning to the club. Having spent just one season at Hearts on loan from Marseille in 2005-06, he was a key player in their Scottish Cup win and netted 16 goals in 35 appearances for the Jambos.

"I've started talks with two or three clubs and one of them is Hearts," Skacel told the Scotsman. "We'll see what happens over the next few days but I'm really excited. The year I spent at Hearts was something special for the team and for me."

Skacel joined George Burley's Southampton from Hearts in 2006, following the man who brought him to Scotland, but failed to settle on the south coast, or at Slavia Prague or Larissa.
