Werder to play Ozil in Champions League
Werder Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs has revealed Mesut Ozil is set to play for the club in their Champions League qualifier against Sampdoria on Wednesday.
Ozil, 21, has just one year remaining on his contract, but Werder insist they have yet to receive an offer for the player and are not anticipating his departure.
Allofs has now said that "nothing has changed" in regard to the player's future and suggested that Ozil is set to play for the club in Europe and therefore become ineligible for other sides in the Champions League for the remainder of the season.
"Our focus will be on sporting matters and we will not be giving consideration to potential transfer issues," he told Bild. "Against Sampdoria, we will play with our strongest team."
AS claims Ozil has already agreed to join Real Madrid when his deal expires but says Jose Mourinho has told the club he would be happy to see him arrive this summer.
Asked about the situation following training on Thursday, he told AS: "I won't be giving any interviews to anyone. I won't speak about Madrid or any other club."
