Juventus midfielder Mauro Camoranesi could be set to complete a move to Birmingham next week.
Camoranesi, 33, is surplus to requirements at Juve and his representative, Sergio Fortunato, said at the end of last week that Birmingham had made an official approach.
The mediator in the deal, Vlado Borozan, has now said Camoranesi has agreed to move to the Premier League ahead of talks at St Andrew's on Monday.
"The agreement for the transfer of Camoranesi has been reached," he told tuttomercatoweb. "On Monday, we'll go to England to arrange the final details. We are doing very well. Camoranesi said yes and is excited about this new adventure."
However, Birmingham will not be signing former Arsenal defender William Gallas, who is available on a free transfer.
"No, definitely not," McLeish told Sky Sports News. "I have got two young centre halves and it's not the right move for me. I need to spend the club's money on other positions that we really need to improve."
