Aston Villa's pre-season preparations continued with victory over Peterborough in an entertaining 3-2 clash at London Road.

Ashley Young got the opener for the Premier League side with a superb lob over Posh goalkeeper Joe Lewis.

Aaron Davies levelled as he slotted past Brad Friedel after beating two defenders, after Craig Mackail-Smith had worried the Villa defence.

John Carew converted a low cross via the inside of a post to regain the lead and full-back Eric Lichaj headed home a third. But the Championship side kept battling and got a goal back as Charlie Lee swept home after a smart turn.

Meanwhile, Ashley Young has hinted that he might sign a new deal at Villa Park. The winger told Sky Sports after the game: "If the contract talks are put forward to me, then of course I will sit down and talk.

"I have enjoyed my time here (at Villa), I have learnt a lot and I think I have a lot more learning to do under the manager. They are the club that gave me my chance. Hopefully I can build on that and we will see what happens."
