Celtic boss Neil Lennon believes winger Aiden McGeady wants to leave the club this summer.

McGeady, 24, has regularly been linked with a move away from Parkhead, and Aston Villa are believed to be keen on signing the player.

Lennon said: "Aiden hasn't said to me he wants to leave in so many words, but that vibe came from his side of things."

McGeady has been left out of Celtic's North American tour with a thigh injury and, while some reports have suggested his exclusion was down to his desire to move on, Lennon insists those suggestions are wide of the mark.

"I know there are conspiracy theories but it's a genuine injury," he said. "He picked it up in a bounce game on Saturday behind closed doors. We felt that, if we were looking at ten days, the travelling would make it worse. It was pointless bringing him here if he wasn't going to train and play."
